Pro Lab's editor supports photo uploads from your device, and you can also use photos from Google Photos, Instagram, Dropbox, and other sources — as long as you save them to your device first. This guide explains the easiest ways to get your photos into the editor.
How to upload photos — the basics
The Pro Lab editor accepts photos uploaded directly from your device (computer, phone, or tablet). The simplest workflow is always:
- Save the photos to your device first
- Then upload them into the Pro Lab editor
Importing from Google Photos
- On desktop: Open photos.google.com, select the photos you want, click the three-dot menu, and choose 'Download'. They'll save to your computer's Downloads folder. Then upload from there in the Pro Lab editor.
- On phone: Long-press the photo in the Google Photos app, tap the share icon, and choose 'Save to device'. Once saved, select them when uploading in the Pro Lab editor.
- Alternative: Use Google Photos' 'Download' option to save an album as a ZIP file, then extract and upload.
💡 Download the original quality version of your photos from Google Photos — not the compressed version — for the best print results.
Importing from Instagram
Instagram compresses photos when they are uploaded to the platform. If you want to use photos from Instagram in your photo book, we recommend sourcing the original high-resolution file from your camera roll or cloud backup rather than downloading from Instagram — compressed Instagram photos may trigger yellow or red quality warnings in our editor.
- To save an Instagram photo: Open the post, tap the three-dot menu, and select 'Save' — this saves a compressed copy to your phone.
- Better approach: Find the original file on your phone's camera roll (Photos app on iPhone, Gallery on Android) and upload that directly instead.
⚠️ Instagram photos are compressed to 1080px wide, which may not be sufficient for large print sizes. For best quality, always use the original camera file.
Importing from Dropbox, iCloud, or OneDrive
- Dropbox: Open the Dropbox app or website, select your photos, and download them to your device
- iCloud Photos (iPhone/iPad): Photos saved to iCloud automatically appear in your Photos app — upload directly from there
- OneDrive: Download photos from onedrive.live.com to your device, then upload to Pro Lab
