Yes — you can add text to your photo book in Pro Lab's editor. This includes page titles, captions below photos, dates, names, and custom messages. Here's how to do it and what to keep in mind for best results.
Adding text in the AI Smart Editor
Pro Lab's AI Smart Editor automatically generates layouts for your photo book. You can customise text elements on any page:
- Click on any existing text element on a page to edit it
- Type your caption, title, or message
- Adjust font size, style, and alignment using the text toolbar
- Drag the text box to reposition it on the page
Adding text in the Pro Editor
In the Pro Editor (available for photographers and advanced users), you have full control over text placement:
- Select the 'Text' tool from the left-hand toolbar
- Click anywhere on the page to place a text box
- Type your content and format as needed
- Move, resize, and layer text boxes freely
Tips for great text in your photo book
- Keep captions short — 1–2 lines works best aesthetically. Long paragraphs rarely look good in photo books.
- Use dates and locations for travel or documentary photo books — these add context that makes the book more meaningful over time.
- Avoid placing text directly over faces or key subjects in photos — it can obscure the main element of the image.
- Check spelling carefully in the preview before ordering — text errors cannot be corrected after production begins.
- High contrast text (dark text on light background, or white text on dark photos) is always easiest to read.
⚠️ Always review your text carefully in the final preview before placing your order. Typos or text errors are considered customer design choices and are not eligible for reprints.
💡 A good cover page text layout: main title centred at the top or bottom, subtitle or year in a smaller font below. Keep it clean — let the cover photo be the hero.
